Delhi University vice-chancellor Dinesh Singh resigned on Tuesday--the latest event in the standoff between the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the university over the four-year undergraduate programme (FYUP).

Most of the university's colleges have postponed admissions, just a day before the process was to begin, leading to confusion among students vying for a seat in the varsity.
The UGC has directed the university to scrap of the FYUP, which was introduced last year, and enrolling the new applicants under the previous three-year undergraduate course, failing which the commission warned of freezing funds to the university.
