SummaryPreity Zinta has accused her ex-boyfriend and industrialist Ness Wadia of outraging her modesty.
Actor Preity Zinta, who has accused her ex-boyfriend and industrialist Ness Wadia of outraging her modesty, on Sunday returned from the United States and her supplementary statement in the case is expected to be recorded in the next couple of days.
The actor, who is also the co-owner of IPL team Kings XI Punjab along with Wadia, returned to the city in the afternoon and drove straight to her residence in Khar from the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. She had left for the US, reportedly to meet a relative, soon after filing a complaint against Wadia on June 12.
Later in a statement, the 39-year-old actor said, Exhausted but happy to finally be back home in Mumbai. Id like to apologise to the media, but it will not be possible for me to make any comments or statements as this investigation is still on. Please co-operate and please dont call my staff or friends non-stop as they have requested me to make this appeal to you all on their behalf.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Ravindra Shisve, who is supervising the probe, said, As she has arrived in Mumbai, her statement would be recorded soon. However, Additional Commissioner of Police (South Region) Krishna Prakash said, Preity Zintas statement was not recorded today. There is a possibility of recording her statement either on Monday or Tuesday.
Zinta had filed a police complaint on June 12 night alleging that Wadia, 44, outraged her modesty at Wankhede stadium on May 30 when an IPL match was played between Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings, a charge the industrialist has denied as false and baseless.
Shisve said the investigators want to ask the actress about the exact place where the alleged incident took place and who were around. The police also require a detailed statement from Zinta as CCTV footage from the stadium, obtained from the BCCI, does not show the alleged spat between the two co-owners of the Indian Premier League franchise.
The Mumbai Police had contacted the actor through her lawyer last week. The investigators claimed that they had communicated with Zintas lawyer seeking the statement from her on return to the city, and were now awaiting a response from either Zinta or her lawyer.
The actor in her complaint had claimed, I left for my seat, but he (Ness) came up to me at my seat and started screaming and abusing me in front of everyone.
