Saffron activists jostled and scuffled with the police in front of Jyoti Talkies in Bhopal on Monday shouting slogans against actor Aamir Khan. They wanted to stop screening of the film in which they said god Shiva has been shown running away. The movie also allegedly displayed pamphlets showing Hindu deities like Hanuman and Laxmi as "missing". Bajrang Dal also took exception to the dialogue in the film, "Jo darr gaya, woh mandir gaya (the one who gets afraid visits the temple)".
A large contingent of police force was deployed outside Jyoti Talkies to ensure screening was not interrupted. In Jabalpur, Bajrang Dal protested at the Yatayat Square and burnt an effigy of actor Aamir Khan while raising slogans.
Speaking to TOI, VHP-Bajrang Dal spokesman for central India Devendra Rawat said, "No film director or actor dares to make a dialogue against either the Muslim clergy or the Church. But it has become a habit with Bollywood to keep hurting the sentiments of Hindus. They insult our gods and show our spiritual gurus as villains. This is a pre-planned cold-calculated conspiracy against the Hindu community. The reason behind this is because the funding of films comes from the Muslim-supported underworld and foreign countries. Mafia dons are eulogised, they are heroes. Why don't they make a film based on the character of Imam Bukhari and his anti-national statements?" he asked.
Rawat demanded that all controversial and offensive anti-Hindu scenes be removed from the movie forthwith. He also urged the Narendra Modi NDA Union government to stop such Bollywood malpractice and calculated attacks on the Hindu community. He said that the majority community expects the present BJP-led government to take action against films that intentionally attack and hurt Hindu culture and religious sentiments.
