The first shock that Congress received in 2014 was its complete 'knock out' from the Centre after 15 years of rule.
Not enough seats for the Leader of Opposition (LoP)
In the worst ever defeat in the Lok Sabha elections, it got only 44 seats out of 543 Lok Sabha seats, not even enough to form a strong opposition on its own.
Blame game and infighting
Then, began the blame game and reports of infighting among party members gradually emerged for the poor performance in the elections.
Natwar Singh's revelations
Post that, another autobiography, "One Life is not enough", a memoir by the party's former loyalist Natwar Singh exposed many bombshell revelations about the Congress Chaitperson Sonia Gandhi, former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi and their son and party's vice president Rahul Gandhi, putting the already shattered party in further embarrassment as well as in raising many questions.
National Herald Scam- blast from the past
Then there are other wounds inflicted upon Congress top leadership by the BJP Leader Subramanian Swamy by unearthing the National Herald Scam.
Priyanka Gandhi, the saver?
Will Priyanka Gandhi, who has strong resemablance to her grandmother and the former prime minister Indira Gandhi, be able to sail Congress through the toughest phase and save the sinking ship?
It is being reported that Priyanka may soon join the party officially at a higher position or can be given the charge of Uttar Pradesh.
Experts believe that Priyanka's official entry to the party would boost Congress and might help the party to regain lost glory in the politics of the country.
Congress's unstable future...
As the assembly elections are scheduled to be held in four states later this year in four states- Maharashtra, Delhi, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Congress may have to find out an early solution to its woes and start from the scratch to emerge as winner in the upcoming assembly polls.
