Manmohan Vaidya: Nothing new in Mohan Bhagwat's 'Hindutva' statement - Business Standard

According to Dr Manamohan Vaidya, publicity head of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), there is nothing new in chief Mohan Bhagwat's statement on 'Hindutva', it has been said before by Dr. Radha Krishnan, Rabindranath Tagore and Swami Vivekananda.

When asked about Bhagwat's controversial 'Hindutva' statement, Vaidya said, "The Sangh has always said this about Hindutva, there is nothing new in it. People are needlessly indulging in controversy over this matter."

He said, "I have a book by Dr. Radhakrishnan titled 'The Hindu view of life' in which he says that 'Hindutva' is a progressive revolution, it is a process not an outcome."

He further said that 'Hindutva' has humbly absorbed all kinds of people coming to and united them as one organic unit in the nation.

"What has said is something that has been said before by Dr. Radha Krishnan, Rabindranath Tagore and Swami Vivekananda."

"Constitution and administration can be secular but people can't be, every individual practices some religion or the other." he added.

Earlier, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat had created controversy by saying that India is a Hindu nation and Hindutva is its identity.
