A 25-year-old woman was allegedly gangraped by two persons in a moving car during the early hours of Wednesday in Southeast Delhi. Police have detained the two accused for questioning.
“An auto-rickshaw driver spotted the woman wandering near Nehru Place flyover around 3 am on Wednesday. Based on her appearance, he thought she had been assaulted. He informed police after which a PCR van reached the area. The woman registered a case of gangrape against two persons — one of whom was reportedly her partner — at Kalkaji police station later in the day. The two accused have been detained and are being questioned,” a senior police officer said.
According to police, the woman claimed that she was picked up by her partner on Tuesday evening. Her partner’s friend was also in the car at the time. The three stopped to have soft drinks. The accused allegedly laced the woman’s drinks with sedatives. Police said she fell unconscious after having the drink and was raped by both men while the driver was driving the car. However, the driver has not been arrested, police said.
Police said the accused dropped the woman near Nehru Place flyover and drove off. The woman was sent for a medical examination and the two accused were detained later in the day, the officer said.
