Amit Shah Brushes Aside BJP's Mixed Bypoll Show - The New Indian Express

GORATA ( BIDAR ): The opposition parties need not be happy about the mixed reaction of the people in the recent by-elections held in a few states, said BJP national president Amit Shah here on Wednesday.

Addressing a mammoth gathering at the foundation stone laying ceremony for a martyrs’ memorial here, Shah said the BJP has opened its account in Assam and won in West Bengal as well in the recent by-election.

“We would show our strength in the ensuing general elections to the assemblies of four states, to be held soon,” the BJP national president said.

He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream is to India a “Congress-free country”. “Already the people of the country are understanding the performance of the Modi Government. Gold price in the country has drastically come down in the last three months. The prices of petrol and diesel are coming down. Everybody is happy with the government,” Amit Shah said.

The people of Karnataka, where the Congress is in power, must teach the party a lesson at an appropriate time.

Speaking on the occasion, former chief minister and BJP national vice-president B S Yeddyurappa requested Modi to declare the Gorata martyrs’ memorial as a national memorial.

He said the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel would be installed at the martyrs’ memorial in Gorata within a year and in all probability, the Prime Minister would unveil it.

He alleged that all development works have hit a roadblock under the Congress Government in Karnataka.

BJP state president Prahlad Joshi said that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was participating in the Hyderabad-Karnataka Liberation Day celebrations in Gulbarga only because the BJP national president was participating in the Liberation Day celebrations in Gorata.

Though three Union Ministers, including Sadananda Gowda, Ananth Kumar and Siddeshwar, were present in the programme, they could not speak due to shortage of time.

‘Patel would’ve Solved Kashmir Issue’

Gorata: BJP national president Amit Shah showered praises on former Deputy Prime Minister late Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel for his role in liberating the erstwhile Hyderabad state from the clutches of the Nizam and for merging it with the Indian Union. Speaking after laying the foundation stone for martyrs’ memorial and Sardar Patel statue here on Wednesday, Shah said, “Had Sardar Patel been given the responsibility of solving the Kashmir problem, there would have been no need to give special status under Article 370 to Jammu and Kashmir. But the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru did not allow it.”
