Congress booklet to 'expose' 100 days of Narendra Modi govt - Zee News

New Delhi: While Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked his ministers to highlight the achievements of the NDA government in 100 days, the Congress has planned to release a booklet to counter his claims and expose the alleged misrule of the BJP regime during this period.

According to reports, the Congress has planned to release a 16-page booklet detailing the alleged missteps of the Modi government, which also coincides with the Prime Minister's 64th birthday today.

Ever since the Modi government completed its 100 days in office, the NDA ministers have been flaunting the achievements of their respective ministries and quoting the revised GDP growth figures to their favour. However, the Congress has been charging the Modi regime with not fulfilling the promises made before coming to power at the Centre.

As part of its strategy to counter the claim of the ruling party, the Congress has decided to scale up its presence on social media, with shadow Twitter handles of ministries.

Social media offers an excellent platform for rival politicians to trade barbs and accusations, and they have embraced it eagerly. Twitter has proven especially conducive to attempts by politicians to control narratives about themselves. Hence, it is no surprise that the Congress, which is not exactly famed for its communication skills, has imported the shadow cabinet system to Twitter to keep the government honest.

Emulating the shadow cabinet systems followed in many Westminster-style democracies, individuals with domain expertise have apparently been tasked with tracking each ministry and sector to enable the party to mount more effective and thorough criticism of every government department.

Dedicated Twitter handles are shadowing various ministries, from human resource development to home and power. The “shadow” HRD handle has already criticised the HRD ministry for “forcing schools and students” to watch the Prime Minister’s address on Teacher’s Day.

Shadow Twitter handles of the Ministries of Commerce and Industry, Home, Power, Railways, Women and Child Development, Youth Affairs and Sports have also been started.

Congress' in-charge of the media Ajay Makan recently told the media that the party will soon release a booklet to expose the BJP government. A base paper prepared by a team led by Rajya Sabha MP Rajeev Gowda has reportedly provided the basis for the booklet detailing the “missteps” of the NDA government.
