In a letter to President Pranab Mukherjee, L-G Najeeb Jung sought his opinion to explore government formation in Delhi by inviting the BJP, which is five MLAs short of majority.

Here's what the parties have to say:

AAP: Minority govt is unconstitutional

AAP leaders lashed out at both the Lieutenant-Governor and the BJP, and said if L-G Najeeb Jung had indeed suggested that the BJP form a minority government, then it would tantamount to a rape of the Constitution.

Constitutionally, a minority government cannot be formed. The AAP will request President Pranab Mukherjee to not let Delhi Assembly be a floor for horse trading, senior leader Ashutosh said.

Party leader Haroon Yusuf said the BJP was desperate as it was not in a position to go back to the people for votes. The state of stagnation that the BJP has pushed Delhi into in the last eight months is the reason why the BJP is afraid go to polls, Yusuf said.

BJP: Wont form govt without elections

Despite L-G Najeeb Jung writing to the President to seek permission to the BJP to form the government in Delhi, the Delhi unit of the party seemed divided on the issue. While
