Hundreds die in torrential rains - Herald Scotland

Forecasters warned of more rain to come as troops raced to evacuate people from deluged areas across Pakistan and in Indian-controlled areas of Kashmir.

A spokesman for Pakistan's National Disaster Management Authority said at least 110 had died since Thursday after rain caused the roofs of their homes to collapse. In India, authorities put the death toll at 108 people, including 30 on their way to a wedding whose bus was washed away in a flooded stream.
