MP in row over 'terror education' - Calcutta Telegraph

Lucknow, Sept. 14 (PTI): BJP member of Parliament Sakshi Maharaj today triggered controversy by saying a group of institutions in the country was imparting the “education of terrorism”.

The comment drew a sharp response from other parties that accused the BJP of trying to create communal polarisation by spreading “canards”.

“Education of terrorism is being given…. They are making them terrorists.... It is not in the national interest,” the MP from Unnao told reporters in Kannauj district, 120km from here.

He alleged that the students were not being taught nationalism in religious schools.

The ruling Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh denounced Sakshi’s “hate speech”, saying it was an attempt to create divisions among communities.

The Congress said it was another attempt to raise the spectre of religious polarisation.
