Police said the accused, K Kesava Rao (32), a mason from Patapatnam in Srikakulam, along with another mason K Chandra Sekhar alias Chandu (23), hatched a plan to kidnap a child from a rich family to secure huge ransom. North zone IG Atul Singh, who is also in-charge city police commissioner, told mediapersons here on Tuesday that Kesava Rao was also involved in a murder case at Srikakulam in 2005. He said half of the city's police force was on the job to rescue the child. "It is a sensitive case involving the life of a nine-year-old child. So we were constantly monitoring the situation and issuing orders by involving all police officials to track down the whereabouts of the kidnappers," he said.
In the last one week the kidnappers made eight to 10 phone calls to the boy's father Srinivasa Rao, the CP said. The police are gathering information whether Kesava Rao and Chandu alone were involved in the kidnap. Tnn
