Yogi Adityanath hits out at SP in Noida rally - Indian Express

BJP MP from Gorakhpur, Yogi Adityanath, on Sunday said the Samajwadi Party government in Uttar Pradesh was partisan towards Muslims, in addition to holding it accountable for the electricity crisis and law and order issues in the state. Adityanath was speaking at a rally in Noida while campaigning for BJP candidate for the Noida bypolls, Vimla Batham.

UP’s BJP unit president Lakshmikant Bajpai, along with BJP MP from Gautam Budh Nagar Dr Mahesh Sharma, was also present.

Bypolls for Noida, along with 10 other assembly seats across Uttar Pradesh, are slated to take place on September 13.

“A huge budget has been allocated for the development of kabristans, for the development and renovation of madrassas. However, no attention is being given to shamshan ghats. Besides, if this money had been spent on roads and electricity, the state would not have been in such a sorry state on both these counts,” Adityanath said.

Taking a dig at the SP candidate in Noida, Kajal Sharma, who is the wife of SP MLA from Bulandshahr, Guddu Pandit, Bajpai said it was the MLA who would be driving the show behind scenes.

“Everybody knows about him. What can I say… How will the SP government guarantee safety and law and order to its people?” Bajpai said.

“The government has no intention of resolving the power crisis. They keep saying that the Centre is not giving them power, but the truth is that they are not ready to pay. They will buy electricity from big firms at Rs 8 or 9 a unit, but they will not pay the Centre a little over Rs 5 per unit for electricity,” he said.

According to Batham, the party, if victorious, was going to work on making the DND flyway toll-free, resolving the power and water crisis in Noida and ensuring the safety of women.
