A Pakistani court granted bail of Rs 50,000 two days after a gang of terrorists shot down over 130 students in a Peshawar school. "He was arrested after India sent a dossier detailing his role in training the terrorists who went on a rampage in India, supplied them weapons and terror training. After being released, there is fear that he would team up with another 26/11 wanted accused and chief of Jamat-ud-Dawa, Haafiz Saeed, who is already on bail and roaming freely in Pakistan," said a police officer who was part of the investigation in Mumbai.
Lakhvi had been accused of plotting the terror attacks in Mumbai that killed 166 people including natives of USA, Israel and UK. "Lakhvi has been running terror camps in Karachi and Sindh for several years and had earlier said that there was need for fidayeen mission in Kashmir. "With his release there are chances their anti India activities will start again. Its high time the Pakistan government should move the higher court to get his bail cancelled," said another officer. A bunch of officers said that they feel betrayed with the investigation in the Pakistan. "Initially he was caught very late despite India handed over evidence of his involvement in the terror attacks. When he was arrested there was some hope he will be punished and kept in jail. However, with this development we feel being betrayed and hope he will not be allowed walk free," added another officer.
A lawyer who had been representing the Pakistan government's side in the court in this case was shot down last year in Pakistan. "These accused needs to be punished and kept behind bars. Their release will create problem," added a cop.
