Emerging out of a city court after attending a sedition case proceedings, initiated by the previous DMK government against him, Vaiko said youngsters in the state were taking to liquor and women were the worst affected by the menace.
Vaiko revealed that he had sent a detailed letter to Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu cautioning him against giving a red carpet welcome to Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa who visited Tirupati. (Amidst protests by various outfits in Tamil Nadu, Rajapaksa completed his two-day pilgrimage to Tirupati on Wednesday.)
Vaiko, who walked out of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) a few days ago, also said he and his party men would show black flags to Prime Minster Narendra Modi when he visits Tamil Nadu the next time.
Vaiko said his party would undertake a statewide awareness drive to make people understand the ill-effects of methane extraction plant in the Cauvery delta regions of Thanjavur and Tiruvarur.
The III additional sessions court, which is hearing the sedition case, adjourned the matter to January 5, 2015.
