Anant Vikram Singh, son of Congress Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh, today joined BJP along with his over 100 supporters.

UP BJP president Laxmikant Bajpai was present when Anant joined the party at the state party headquarters here.

Anant said he admired the policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and hence decided to join the party.

Anant's elder sister Mahima is also slated to join the party too in the next few days.

Anant told UNI that though he has differences with his father over some personal dispute but he will certainly try to meet his father to convey him about his decision.

"Politics should be kept aside from family matters," he said.

He also said he is not a contender for Amethi assembly seat and will work as per the party's directive.

Meanwhile, Mr Bajpai said he has confidence that all those taking membership will work for the expansion of the party in their respective areas to ensure BJP's victory in the 2017 Assembly polls.'

Anant's father is currently a Rajya Sabha MP from Assam and the father-son duo has strained relationship.

Former BSP MLA Bhagwan Pathak and former vice-president of SP Brahmin Sabha Rajeev Shukla also joined BJP today. UNI MB AE 1726 NNNN
