Stone thrown at Kejriwal during jan sabha in Deoli - Times of India

NEW DELHI: A day after Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal was attacked with eggs, a teenager allegedly threw a stone at him in the Deoli area of south Delhi on Saturday evening. The incident took place when Kejriwal was addressing a public gathering in a locality. Police sources said another person was caught on suspicion by plainclothesmen when he was taking off his shoes.

The incident took place around 6.45pm. A youth approached near Kejriwal and then threw a stone he was hiding in his hand. However, the stone did not hit Kejriwal as the stage was at a distance from the public enclosure.

The youth was immediately caught by police officers and taken to Neb Sarai police station.

Police are checking the background of both suspects and will take action as per the complaint received, an officer said.

Immediately after the incident, Kejriwal tweeted, "One person threw a stone at me in Deoli jan sabha today. BJP so scared? Resorting to violence? I wish well for the boy who did it". He followed this up with another tweet: "We have no bad wishes for people who hurl shoe and stones at us, we wish them all the best".

Another senior member of AAP said, Kejriwal did not suffer any injury in the incident. "This is the handiwork of BJP. They are scared of AAP defeating them in the Delhi elections and resorting to such acts to threaten us. But we will not get cowed down."

BJP has denied the allegations.
