The ensuing assembly polls shall see the BJP locked in a fight with the Aam Aadmi Party, even as the Congress, washed out in the last assembly poll, tries to revive its fortunes. While announcing that the model code of conduct had come into force in Delhi with immediate effect, Sampath said the EC was anticipating a heated political campaign, with all parties focused on the Delhi campaign in the standlone poll.
Sampath said the other challenge foreseen in this assembly poll is the use of money power, for which the EC has initiated several measures including deployment of general, expenditure and micro observers in each of the 70 constituencies as well as flying squads to monitor illegal cash flows.
