The prediction of snowfall has led to fear of blocked roads and breakdown of power supply in snow-bound areas. On January 13 and 15, while plains and low hills of the state would record light rain and thunder showers, middle and high hills would receive light rain and snow at many places. On January 16, while dry weather has been predicted in the plains and low hills, middle and high hills would continue to receive rain and snow.
According to Shimla meteorological centre officials, the tourist towns of Manali, Dalhousie, Shimla and their adjoining areas have strong chances of receiving snowfall. Hoteliers are eagerly waiting for the snowfall as it would attract more tourists.
Heavy snowfall on December 13 and 14 disrupted power supply in Kullu distinct besides blocking roads, but power has been restored in the district and road conditions have also improved.
With minimum temperature of minus 7.9 degrees Celsius Keylong town of tribal Lahaul-Spiti district remained coldest in the state. Solan recorded the highest maximum temperature of 22.2 degrees Celsius.
Shimla recorded a minimum temperature of 10.8 degrees Celsius and a maximum temperature of 15.2 degrees Celsius, Kalpa in Kinnaur recorded a minimum temperature of minus 1.4 degrees Celsius and a maximum temperature of 5.6 degrees Celsius. Manali recorded a minimum temperature of 1.4 degrees Celsius and a maximum temperature of 13.4 degrees Celsius.
