BJP puts 11 questions to Delhi CM on farmer's suicide - Times of India

NEW DELHI: Though chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday apologized for continuing his rally despite the suicide by a farmer, BJP attacked him for giving a "conditional apology". BJP members said that Kejriwal has a lot of questions to answer about his and his party members' comments.

"The CM's statement that a game of TRP and melodrama is going on is not only condemnable but a shame. The incident took place in his presence, but he avoided all queries for two days. It is shameful that the CM has come out with a conditional apology," said Satish Upadhyay, Delhi BJP chief.

Mounting attack on AAP, BJP raised 11 questions which it wants Kejriwal to answer. "The CM and his party talk about dialogues to resolve every issue. Why didn't he or his party members tried to stop him (Gajender Singh)? The FIR mentions that the policemen on duty requested them to direct the volunteers to stop clapping and sloganeering. But AAP workers tried to stop emergency vehicles. As the CM was at the venue, he should tell us the truth," said Upadhyay.

Condemning AAP's decision to continue with the rally, the Delhi BJP chief said, "They continued with the rally despite knowing that a man has committed suicide. There are several unanswered questions which hint at a conspiracy in the incident. Kejriwal should explain the comments made by his party members and what action he plans to take against them."

Leader of opposition in Delhi assembly Vijender Gupta also blamed the CM for the farmer's death. "There should be a judicial inquiry and the role of deputy CM Manish Sisodia should be investigated," he said.

AAP spokesperson Deepak Bajpayee said: "All questions have been answered by AAP in the past two days. If there was error of judgement in not stopping the rally, we have apologized for it. Everyone has video footage of the rally and can see what actually happened. This happened with us last time as well when the police named eight volunteers for the death of a police constable during the Nirbhaya protest. Later it was found that they were in the Metro at that time. Home minister Rajnath Singh tried to mislead Parliament on Thursday by saying our volunteers instigated him. However, police had said it was not their job to climb trees."
