New Delhi: A Delhi Police constable was shot dead early Monday and another sustained serious injury when three unidentified miscreants fired at them, police said.
The incident occurred around 1:30a.m. at Vijay Vihar area in west Delhi when the two constables were patrolling in the area on their motorbike. The constables found some persons sitting in an auto in L block, street no.7. The cops found their activities suspicious and questioned them. After initial inquiry both policemen left their motorbike and sat in the auto with them to take them to near by police station.
It was at this point that the miscreants fired at both the constables. One constable, identified as Jagbir died at the spot, another constable ,Narendra, was taken to Jaipur golden hospital.
The police have launched a combing operation to nab the culprits.
