DSP transferred, SHO suspended after 'lapse in Raje's security' - Times of India

JAIPUR: Three officers of Sikar police paid the price for a 'lapse' in chief minister Vasundhara Raje's security while she was on a visit to the district on Friday.

Calling the incident in which some women surrounded Raje's convoy and blocked it for about five minutes as a "serious security lapse", the police headquarters on Sunday transferred the circle officer (DSP) to Delhi and suspended a SHO. Another SHO was sent to police lines. The women were demanding adequate supply of drinking water to the area.

A senior officer said that circle officer, Neem Ka Thana, Shivlal Bairwa has been transferred to Rajasthan Armed Constabulary in Delhi. SHO, Reengus, Dharmaveer Janu has been suspended, while SHO Khandela Bhagwan Singh has been sent to police lines.

Raje came to Tapiplya village to pay condolences on the death of MLA Banshidhar Khandela's mother. While she was returning, hundreds of women gathered near the helipad and started a demonstration and blocked the way of CM's cavalcade.

All senior police and administration officers of Sikar were summoned to Jaipur on Saturday and asked to explain the lapse in CM's security. Sources said that Raje expressed annoyance over the incident and asked senior officers to take action.

"IG, security T Guite was handed the probe. The negligence was found on part of the local police officers. In the probe, it was found that the local officers didn't bother to check if any demonstration was being planned and didn't secure the way through which the CM's cavalcade was to pass," said an officer in police headquarters.
