Gurgaon: Now, Nagaland men beaten up, hair chopped off - Indian Express

A day after three youths from North-East were assaulted in Bangalore, two youths from Nagaland were brutally beaten up in Sikanderpur Village in Gurgaon on Wednesday night.


According to the Gurgaon police, the incident took place around 11:30 pm on Wednesday night. “The boys were called outside by a group of attackers, around 7 in number, and then Awang and Aloto were forced to drink alcohol. They were confined in a room near Sabzi Mandi in Sikanderpur village and were beaten up with cricket bats and hockey sticks,” said Mathew Kamei, Executive Member, North East Support Centre and Helpline (NESCH).

According to a local, the victims had been staying in Sikanderpur since the last two years and worked at a BPO in Gurgaon. “The boys were confined for over 3 hours and beaten brutally. Aloto was then rescued by a relative,” the local added.


To torture the victims more, the attackers then chopped off Awang’s hair saying, “We want to send a message to all of you in the northeast. If you guys from Manipur or Nagaland come here, we will kill you”, claimed Mathew. Awang was then dumped on the roadside. He was spotted on Thursday morning by his relative.


The victims were first rushed to the Civil Hospital, Gurgaon, after which Awang, who is said to be in a critical condition was then referred to Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi.


A case has been registered by DLF phase – 1 police station against 7 unidentified persons and the police said investigations are on.
