Ajay was the chairman of Panchshil Hotels Private Limited which owns business hotel Double Tree By Hilton in Chinchwad town near Pune. Initial investigation reports suggest Ajay (48) hanged himself from the fire extinguisher pipe in his office within the hotel premises.
Ajay is survived by his parents, wife, two children, and brothers. His elder brother Atul and younger brother Sagar look after the Group's real estate business Panchshil Realty including high end residential buildings, premium office space and hospitality including two hotels (Courtyard By Marriott and JW Marriott) which are under the management of the Marriott chain of hotels.
All attempts to reach Atul Chordia and Sagar Chordia failed despite several calls and SMS.
Not much is known about Ajay in the city real estate circles. A leading developer told ToI that Ajay was not closely involved in the real estate business of Panchashil Group. Ajay always looked after Hotel Panchashil in Chinchwad town, the developer said adding that Ajay was rather a loner and spoke very less.
