BANGALORE: Michael Lamjathang Haokip, a 24-year-old engineering student from Manipur, and 2 of his friends were beaten up by a gang of 3 people in Bangalore's Indiranagar area on Tuesday night.
The youth was asked whether he knew how to speak local language Kannada and why he was speaking in English. When Michael did not reply, the gang then attacked him. He sustained injuries to his back, legs and forehead. The 3 accused have been arrested.
This is not the first incident his family has encountered. A month ago Michael's relatives were also attacked by the locals of the area.
The case has been registered at Kothanur Police Station in Bangalore.
