Swiss authorities ready to give Indian ac holders details FM - Enewspaper of India

New Delhi: Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Friday said that Swiss authorities will give details of bank accounts of persons who have been investigated by Income Tax authorities.


"Swiss authorities have agreed to confirm genuineness of the documents relating to foreign bank accounts," Jaitley said.


He further informed that the government has sent three officials to have a discussion in Switzerland with Swiss officials.

"Government's intention was to get information on people who have bank accounts in Swiss bank. Subject of negotiation was finding out details on Indians who have stacked money in Swiss accounts," he said.


"Breakthrough reached that in cases where there is independent investigation in India details in relation to those accounts will be provided," he added.


India and Switzerland have agreed to start discussion on bilateral agreement on automatic exchange of information.


Jaitley also said that there will be no difficulty in making names public but names can only be made public as per due course of law.
