Azam Khan's wife relents, to file her paper on Monday - Times of India

LUCKNOW: A day after declining to accept the Rajya Sabha ticket, senior minister Azam Khan's wife Tazeen Fatima has reportedly agreed to contest. While both Azam and Fatima were not available to comment, Smajawadi Party sources confirmed that she along with five other will file the nomination on Monday.

On Friday, the SP parliamentary board had approved six candidates — Ram Gopal Verma, Neeraj Shekhar, Chandrapal Singh Yadav, Ravi Prakash Verma, Tazeen Fatima and Javed Ali Khan while giving a cold shoulder to its estranged leader Amar Singh.

According to reliable sources, the party top leadership has directed all the six candidates to file their nomination papers on Monday. "All the candidates would submit their nomination papers together," a senior SP leader told TOI.

Assembly speaker Mata Prasad Pandey, along with his principal secretary Pradip Dubey, has gone to Mauritius on a four-day visit and is expected to return to the city by Sunday. The winter session of the assembly is to begin on November 14 and the elections to the 10 RS seats, if required, will be held on November 20. Given the strength of SP in the house, all its candidates are expected to have a smooth sailing.

On Friday, after the party announced Fatima's named along with five others, she wrote a letter to SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav saying that instead of her he should give the ticket 'a more deserving candidate'. But before the letter could reach to Mulayam's office, it got leaked to the media. Now, Fatima she is learnt not to have pursued her request of not contesting the election.
