Honour Killing: Parents kill daughter for doing inter-cast marriage - Parda Phash

New Delhi: In yet another honour killing incident, parents of a girl killed her just because she married a boy belonging to different caste. The girl, named Bhawna, and her husband Abhishek, dated each other for around two years and then decided to tie the knot. But the girl’s parents found it tougher to accept their relationship than assassinating their own daughter, revealed the friend of couple, Vishal, who had planned a grand party on November 16 to mark their wedding.

Narrating the love story, the couple’s friends said that everything started on November 4, 2012, when Bhawna and Abhishek met each other. However, the girl, who was shy by nature, didn’t speak much with Abhishek. But after a month, the relationship between them strengthened and they began dating each other. At that time, the boy was 22-year-old and the girl was 19-year-old.

At that time, Abhishek was pursuing BCA while Bhawna was a first-year student.

“But a month later, we knew they were a couple. We would all hang out together and go on outings across the city every weekend. Abhishek would ride his bike with Bhawna riding pillion. He even taught her to ride a scooty,” said Vishal.

Abhishek is currently pursuing MCA from IGNOU.

Their relationship has grown one-year-old and that was the time when they first faced a hurdle in their future plans of life.

Bhawna told her father, who is a property dealer, that she loved a guy named Abhishek and wanted to marry him. Instantly, her father refused to accept her request and even rebuked her. Since then the couple made every possible attempt to convince him but none of them worked really, said Vishal.

Bhawna’s father even fixed her engagement with a Gurgaon-based boy who belonged to the same caste. She had fought hard with them then, Vishal remembered. The engagement was scheduled for November 22.

As Bhawna wasn’t ready at all to marry anyone other than Abhishek, she didn’t accept her parents’ decision.

“They decided to marry, hoping that Bhawna’s parents would accept Abhishek in the days to come. We had planned a party on November 16 to celebrate the marriage. But it wasn’t meant to be. The day we were to celebrate, we were frantically searching for Bhawna. That evening we came to know that she had been murdered,” said another friend.

A friend of Bhawna even claimed that the girl was very excited about her marriage. An indulgent Abhishek had gone with her when she had visited several shops in Tilak Nagar market in the first week of November to try out several outfits for her big day. She had finally settled for a red and blue lehnga which she wore on her wedding at the Arya Samaj temple. Abhishek had even bought a pendant for his new wife.

However, they hadn’t yet informed their parents about the wedding, so, they kept their wedding clothes at a friend’s apartment. On November 12 morning, Abhishek left his house with his friends for the temple at Connaught Place where Bhawna was already present. The wedding took place there. The temple issued them a certificate and their friends signed up as witnesses.

After the marriage, Abhishek took Bhawna with him to his parents to introduce her to the family. Abhishek had the last sight of his wife on November 14, after which Bhawna’s parents had taken her away from him with the promise of a grand wedding. After two days, Anhishek came to know that Bhawna is dead.

Since then, Abhishek hasn’t returned home as he doesn’t want to return to the place which will remind him of the love of his life.
