The quarrel broke out after journalists attempted to talk to Ghosh, who was being transported to the correctional home, but the police deployed around the hospital refused to permit them to do so. There was were reports of a lathicharge by the police with some journalists sustaining injuries.

On Friday, Ghosh was hospitalized after he allegedly tried to commit suicide in jail. A suicide note and sleeping pills were also recovered from his cell.
His actions came after he had earlier threatened to commit suicide when he was produced before the special CBI court probing the scam, demanding immediate arrest of those he said were actually involved in the scam.

Ghosh was first arrested by West Bengal police and later shifted to CBI custody after the central agency took charge of the probe.
Escorted by police personnel, Ghosh stood up for a brief moment before the reporters who were present.
Ghosh had allegedly named few influential political personalities of the ruling Trinamool Congress during the course of interrogation by CBI.
