IMS director Prof R G Singh said, "It is a great honour for all of us and a fitting recognition to the pioneering educationist, lawyer, social worker, freedom fighter, journalist, patriot and founder of Asia's largest residential university." The award conferment also saw an outpouring of pride and love from the students of the varsity. "Feeling highly obliged as Malaviya ji is being awarded the highest civilian honour. He was not only a great educationist but also a great supporter of women's education," said Shubhi, a student in faculty of science.
