New Delhi: BJP’s top brass from the Telangana State met the national president Amit Shah on Friday and apprised him of political developments in the State and also discussed about the political road map for the State. Amit Shah is understood to have told the party leaders to concentrate on strengthening the party in the State and gear it up for 2019 general elections.
BJP’s State unit president G Kishan Reddy, Union Minister of State for Labour Bandaru Dattatreya and BJP floor leader in the Assembly K Laxman were closetted with Amit Shah. National general secretary Muralidhar Rao was also present at the meeting. The meeting went on for about two hours, indicating the importance the central leadership was giving to the State unit.
Sources told The Hans India that Amit Shah had grilled the leaders on the steps they had taken in strengthening the party during the last three months. The party leaders from the State are understood to have pointed out that the party’s State unit was able to ensure success of its candidate from Mahabubnagar-Ranga Reddy-Hyderabad Graduates constituency.
Amit Shah reportedly asked the party leaders work with the same spirit to win as many number of seats as possible in the elections to be held for Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. The BJP leaders appealed to Amit Shah to direct the Cabinet Ministers of the Modi government to visit the State as often as possible as it would help strengthen the party.
Addressing the media after the meeting, Kishan Reddy said the TRS government was unable to digest its electoral defeat in the MLC elections and the Ministers in the KCR Cabinet were threatening and intimidating the officers who supported the BJP. Laxman came down heavily on the KCR government for increasing the power tariff.
