High Court notice to AAP, Kirari MLA for misuse of Emblems Act - The Hindu

The Aam Aadmi Party and its Kirari MLA Rituraj Govind were directed by the High Court here to file their responses to a plea for prosecution, which accused him of misusing the Emblems Act while distributing identity cards to AAP workers. The Central Government and the Delhi Police were also told to file their replies by August 11.

Mr. Govind has also been restrained from further distributing the identity cards. The ID cards have the designation “In-charge Anti Corruption” printed on them along with the name and address of the worker. And, with the emblem on it, the petition has alleged that locals in the Kirari constituency are under the impression that these people hold government jobs.

The petition states that the emblem of the State printed on it amounts to misuse of the State emblem as per the State Emblem of India (Prohibition of Improper Use) Act, 2005.

This is not the first time the AAP has been taken to the High Court on the pretext of misusing the Emblems Act.

Govind could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.
