Hosts Chennai Super Kings defeated Delhi Daredevils by one run in a thrilling Indian Premier League (IPL) match at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium on April 9. Chasing a 151-run target, Delhi Daredevils, led by a valiant innings from South African Albie Morkel (73 not out), came within inches of wining the contest. Requiring a six off the last ball, the left-handed batsman just managed to score a boundary to lose agonizingly by a run.
Kings XI Punjab would look to adapt quickly to their new ‘home ground’ when they lock horns with former champions Rajasthan Royals in campaign opener in the eighth season of Indian Premier League. While Royals boast of dangerous Steve Smith, who has scored 2096 runs in 31 international matches across all formats at a brilliant average of 69.86, which includes eight hundreds. The team also has skipper Shane Watson and James Faulkner who are high on confidence and can be quite effective.
As for the Kings XI Punjab is concerned, their skipper George Bailey during a press conference ahead of the match said, “The beauty of that is we have got a lot of Australians too and have lot of faith in each other.” And indeed they boast of big names apart from himself.
