Shobhaa De unfazed by protests - Mumbai Mirror

The Shiv Sena and the RPI staged a protest outside columnist Shobhaa De's house for "insulting Maharashtrian culture" by opposing a government order on screening Marathi movies, but the celebrated author remained unfazed, asserting she would continue to speak up.

The protesters, around a hundred, gathered near De's Cuffe Parade residence and shouted slogans. Carrying saffron flags in their hands, they presented vada-pav and Dahi to the building watchman.

Meanwhile, the state government on Thursday relaxed norms as per which Marathi films can now be screened between 12 noon to 9 pm. Now, Marathi films can be screened on any one screen in multiplexes any time between 12 pm and 9 pm, depending on the demand of the producer to the exhibitor.
