From growth, Narendra Modi changes agenda to cleansing - Times of India

HARDOI: Modi sarkar will go all out for political cleansing and in the process won't spare MPs from even the Bharatiya Janata Party or the NDA.

Addressing a rally at Hardoi and taking a line different from his development-oriented speeches, BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi said he would flush all MPs with criminal antecedents out of Parliament and in the process won't even spare those from his own party.

Modi said "after forming government at Centre, I will form a committee to shortlist MPs with criminal records on the basis of affidavits they have submitted to the Election Commission. After checking the genuineness of the cases, the government would move Supreme Court to initiate cases against them, following which they would be put behind bars. Erring MPs from BJP and NDA would meet the same fate."

"I will cleanse the politics of the country after May 16," Modi said and added that democracy in the country would not sustain unless politics is not made crime-free. Taking a dig at opposition, Modi said those indulging in politics of crime will not be able to cleanse the system. "Main to maut ko apni mutthi mein lekar chalta hoon, isliye main kar sakta hoon," he said and added that people will have to ensure the win of at least 300 BJP MPs.

Modi's statement at the rally on Hardoi's ITI ground in support of party's Sitapur candidate Anshul Verma and Mishrikh candidate Anju Bala on Monday comes a couple of days after his trusted lieutenant Amit Shah demanded probe into AK-47 dealings of Congress candidate from Varanasi Ajay Rai. The demand led to Congress-BJP locking in a war of words, irrespective of the fact that both parties are fielding candidates with criminal records.

Later, at a rally in Etah, Modi hit out at a statement by Union minister Jairam Ramesh that there is no Modi 'leher', only Modi 'zeher', and said "I accept Modi is 'zeher', but only for those who have been fleecing the country and indulging in criminal activities."

Continuing a hard-hitting attack on Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party and Congress ('sa-b-ka' as he prefers to call the combine), Modi said the game of power played by these parties has been at the root of all problems.

"While the country has been destroyed by mother-and-son governments, Uttar Pradesh has been destroyed by a father-son government. On one hand there is a father-son duo while on the other hand is Behenji (Mayawati)...they waste the five years of their term just demeaning each other," Modi said.

At Mathura, Modi promised to bring back the black money been stored by them in foreign accounts. "I want to bring prosperity to our country with this money," he said.

Taking a pot-shot at Robert Vadra, Modi said the Gandhis believe the country can be run only by their family members and have extended the power to their son-in-law.

"Rahul bhaiyya visits homes of poor and Dalits as people go to see Taj Mahal, Modi said and added that for his poverty tourism he carries along a battery of electronic media persons and photographers to get himself clicked with a poor child in his lap. "The moment he is clicked, the child is dumped," Modi said.

At Firozabad, Modi urged election commission to ensure free and fair polling. Samajwadi Party has fielded party's general secretary Ramgopal Yadav's son Akshay Yadav against BJP's candidate and turncoat SP Singh Baghel. Modi also addressed a rally at Etah in support of Rajveer Singh, son of former chief minister Kalyan Singh.
