Indian-origin businessman caught on camera beating girlfriend, avoids jail in US

The court sentence Chahal to three years' probation, 52 weeks in a domestic violence training programme and 25 hours of community service.

In a series of tweets, Chahal has denied the charges. "I maintain my innocence regarding these exaggerated allegations. I got cornered to accept a misdemeanor plea with a $500 fine to resolve the matter and move on with my life."

Chahal was once named one of "most eligible bachelors" of the US. He was arrested in August, 2013 when his girlfriend sought police help and reported domestic violence. In her complaint before the police, the girl reportedly said that she was unable to breathe and Chahal told her four times, "I'm going to kill you."

The 31-year-old tech millionaire pleaded guilty to misdemeanor domestic violence and battery charges, dodging 45 felony counts.

The report added that Chahal was caught beating his girlfriends by security cameras in his San Francisco home. It is learned that 'cheating' was the reason for the violence.

A judge said that the surveillance video is not an evidence as it was not seized legally by the police.
