Rahul goes to dalit homes for picnics and honeymoon: Ramdev - Hindustan Times

Yoga guru Ramdev continued his tirade against Rahul Gandhi on Friday -- this time commenting that the Congress vice-president goes to houses of Dalits for picnics and honeymoon.

On Thursday, Ramdev, who is supporting the BJP, said Gandhi wanted to marry a foreigner, but his mother won't allow it as it might mar his chances of becoming the prime minister.

Continuing on the same subject at a media conference on Friday, he said, "Had he (Rahul) married a dalit girl, who knows, he might have become the PM. Sonia says first become the PM and then bring a foreigner as bride. He goes to dalit houses to have picnics and honeymoon."

Over the last couple of years, Gandhi had frequently visited dalit homes across Uttar Pradesh, where he had met the locals and shared meals with them.

"People in Amethi should understand that by defeating Rahul they will make India win," Ramdev added, announcing his plans to go to Gandhi's constituency on April 30 to campaign for BJP candidate Smriti Irani. "Kumar Vishwas of Aam Aadmi Party is working very hard but Smriti Irani would win."

Ramdev later denied usage of the word 'honeymoon' in the context of Dalit girls and the meaning of the word as is universally understood. Even his aide explained it as a "figurative use".

Ramdev, who is fighting charges that his yoga camps are an occasion for canvassing votes for the BJP, has just got a reprieve from the Gujarat high court.

Following a complaint by the Congress, the Election Commission had cancelled his permission to hold yoga camps in Ahmedabad and Vadodara, and his Bharat Swabhiman Trust was forced to move court.
