Ramdev slams Congress, says Modi will lead 'stable government' - Times of India

KOLHAPUR: Attacking the Congress over "corruption" and accusing it of "failure on all grounds", yoga guru Ramdev predicted that the party will end up with "only fifty seats" in this Lok Sabha election, that Congress president Sonia Gandhi will return to Italy after the poll results and that other Congress leaders will be jailed over charges of fraud and corruption.

He was speaking at a press conference here on Saturday.

The yoga guru minced no words in his support of the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, stating that Modi will give the country "a stable government" and "help India grow in all sectors".

Ramdev said that coming to power, the BJP will "uplift" the country "socially and spiritually" and will "play a major role in compelling the United Nations to take action against black money".

"The Congress will get only 10-15 seats in north India and will not even cross the half-century mark in these polls. People want social, cultural, financial and spiritual change in the country and will vote for the Shiv Sena-BJP for that change," the yoga guru said.

"I am neither a member of the Shiv Sena nor the BJP; my movement is non-political. But I support the BJP because the party has the calibre to bring back Indian currency stashed away in foreign banks and take strict against corruption and black money. I appeal to people to vote for the country and not for money; to vote for the party that will give them corruption-free rule," he said.

The yoga guru did not spare Aam Admi Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal, alleging that he "always changes camps" and called him "opportunistic".

"Kejriwal was with me two years back to fight corruption, and then in Anna Hazare's camp. He is a Congress puppet and only targets BJP leaders. He has never spoken up against any Congressmen, who remain the most corrupt politicians in the country. I would have supported Kejriwal if he had contested against Sonia Gandhi," Ramdev said.
