Sadhu Yadav withdraws from Maharajganj fray - Times of India

PATNA: Former MP Sadhu Yadav on Wednesday withdrew his nomination papers from Maharajganj Lok Sabha constituency, saying that his decision was to avoid the split in the votes of the JD (U) candidate in the fray.

"I have withdrawn my nomination papers as an independent candidate. I will not contest the polls," Sadhu said. The brother of former chief minister Rabri Devi and brother-in-law of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad, Sadhu praised chief minister Nitish Kumar. "I strongly feel that Nitish Kumar is a better leader than others in Bihar and across the country," he said.

Sadhu had met BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi at Ahmedabad and speculation was rife that he would join the BJP if the party decided to field him in the Lok Sabha election in Bihar. When the BJP did not oblige him, Sadhu announced to contest the Lok Sabha polls against his sister Rabri Devi from Saran constituency, but later filed his papers from Maharajganj.
