Shops sold, Rahul's assets double in 5 years - Times of India

AMETHI: Rahul Gandhi's immovable property appears to have beaten all growth records in five years. Rahul's share of the Indira Gandhi Farm House, which he owns jointly with sister Priyanka Vadra was valued at Rs 9.86 lakh in 2009.

In his 2014 affidavit, Rahul has declared that the value of his share has growth more than eleven times to Rs 1.24 crore. This year, the Congress scion has also declared a building on the farmhouse, 50% of whose value is Rs 8.14 lakh.

Overall, though, Rahul's assets have almost doubled to Rs 9.4 crore in the last five years. He continues to have liabilities worth Rs 18 lakh.

Rahul's latest affidavit submitted along with his Lok Sabha nomination papers shows an increase of around 86% in the value of his immovable property. He has sold an agricultural property in Haryana and prime properties in New Delhi's Metropolitan mall. Rahul continues to own 50% share in an inherited farm in Delhi's Sultanpur village.

Rahul does not have a personal car like his mother, Sonia Gandhi. His Rs 70,000 in cash in 2009 has gone down to exactly half in 2014.

He has declared an income of Rs 92.46 lakh in the tax return for 2012-13. Rahul has investments in fixed deposit amounting to Rs 9.50 lakh. His jewellery collection remains untouched in five years -- though its value has nearly doubled. His investment in bonds, shares and mutual funds amounts to nearly Rs 83 lakh. The Gandhi scion has declared investments in NSS, Postal Saving and other instruments worth Rs 20.70 lakh.
