Amid Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi's surprise sabbatical at a time when the Budget session of Parliament is underway, a party worker has released some photos on social networking site Twitter which show him to be camping somewhere in Uttarakhand.
At a time when speculation is rife that Rahul Gandhi is holidaying abroad, a close Robert-Priyanka Vadra aide claims that the Gandhi scion is in Uttarakhand.
Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh has also claimed that Gandhi is in India.
Ever since news broke of Rahul Gandhi's 'leave of absence', the social media has been abuzz with his 'sabbatical'. While some poked fun at the Congress vice-president, others came out in his defence.
However, if you trust the Congress then its vice-president will be back in the political humdrum in two weeks.
Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh tweeted, "If Rahul wans to reflect what went wrong why criticise him? Every one wants some peace to reflect. Only timing could have been better (sic)."
However, the BJP criticised Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi for taking leave when Parliament is in session, saying he is "holidaying" while the budget session is on.
"Rahul is on a few days' leave... He has already left on leave. Give him a few weeks," Sonia Gandhi told Headlines Today on being asked about the reports of his absence from party affairs.
The party second-in-command has been under attack from rivals as well as from within the Congress over its continued losses in all the elections since the Lok Sabha polls last year. The Delhi debacle was the latest in the series in which the Congress failed to win even one seat in the 70-member Assembly.
