Patna: Expelled Janata Dal – U leader and Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh, at a press conference in Patna on Wednesday, slammed the current leadership of the Janata Dal – U saying the way Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi was treated by his predecessor Nitish Kumar and his supporters was shameful and beyond reprehensible.

"The way Manjhi has been treated by the JD-U leaders is shocking and appalling. First he puts a Mahadalit leader to lead the state but the moment the Chief Minister started to take independent decision, he was humiliated and ordered to resign. I ask you, what was Manjhi's fault? A socialist like me is not going to tolerate such humiliation and insult of a Mahadalit leader," Singh said claiming Nitish Kumar was conspiring to get rid of Manjhi less than two weeks after he was made the Chief Minister of Bihar.

Accusing Kumar and his supporters of encouraging cronyism, the Agriculture Minister, who may not be a minister after this Friday, said that Nitish Kumar wanted to crush Manjhi when the latter ordered transfers of high-level bureaucrats appointed by his predecessor.

"Nitish Kumar is surrounded by people who are not the well-wishers of Bihar. He is guided by people like Lallan Singh who has used his position in the past to stop transfers of officials in the Road Construction Department to serve his needs. Since Manjhi stopped being bullied by Singh and other JD-U leaders, a grand plan was hatched to remove the Chief Minister," he said.

Singh further said that Kumar stabbed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the back when he unilaterally decided to break ties with it in 2013.

Expressing confidence in Manjhi's victory on the Assembly floor on Friday, the former JD-U leader, taking a dig at Kumar's extensive 'dinner diplomacy' to ensure support of all legislators, said that no matter who eats at whose house, most legislators were with the Chief Minister and will vote in favor of Manjhi.

In a shocking revelation, Singh claimed that he received a call on his mobile on Wednesday morning with the caller threatening to kill him if he did not stop opposing the election of Nitish Kumar.

"I was holding a meeting with the Chief Minister when someone who identified himself as 'Chowdhary' called me and made threats against me. Pretending not to have heard what the caller had said, I asked him to repeat his statement and then I handed over the phone to Manjhi who also heard the threat issued to me," he said.

Now that Jitan Ram Manjhi has been uncermoniously removed from his post, has your opinion about Nitish Kumar changed?
