CHANDIGARH: Mayor Poonam Sharma on Monday promised an inquiry into invitation cards and hoarding with photograph of US soldiers passed off as Indians that the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation had put up for a Martyr's Day event.
"We will see the facts and inquire into the matter. I cannot say anything much on the issue now," Sharma said.
Sources said a team of councilors had checked the invitation cards before they were sent for printing. They added initially there was no plan to print the photograph on the invitation cards, but the councillors later decided to include it. The printer selected and the councilors' finalized the picture.
