Abu Hamza trial: Anjem Choudray says cleric a 'victim of war on terror' - Telegraph.co.uk

He added: "There is no question of him cooperating with them. I think if something is Islamically a good thing to do, that's okay - for example to help alleviate some pain of suffering for Muslims overseas, or to clarify the agenda.

"I don't think that diminishes him.

"Sheikh Abu Hamza is the latest in a long line of Islamic activists and intellectuals who have been targeted by the American and British regimes in the war on Muslims. I believe he will gain paradise."

Mr Choudary suggested Hamza had made claims about his role with the security services because he had been "broken" by years in jail.

"Prison changes people. He's been in prison for many years, he's not allowed to have his prosthetic limbs," he said.

"The whole experience of prison, especially in America, is designed to break down a person."

Mr Choudary said he had been "closely associated" with Hamza since the early 1990s.

"He is a victim of the War on Terror, which for most Muslims in the world is a war on Muslims," said Mr Choudary.

"I do not accept the law. It is vehemently anti-Islamic.

"There is in way that anyone living in England or America can get a fair trial."
