NEW DELHI: An FIR was filed on Tuesday against AAP leader Somnath Bharti and 40 others under section 188 and 126 of Representation of People Act in Amethi for violation of the model code of conduct.
Somnath Bharti had stayed on in Amethi despite being asked to leave.
Earlier, a posse of police swooped on party candidate Kumar Vishwas's house late on Monday night, asking all family members who are not voters of Amethi to leave or else they will be arrested.
Though police said that it was enforcing orders of the Election Commission to make 'outsiders' leave Amethi after the time of campaigning ended on Monday evening, AAP leaders accused police and district administration of targeting only their party, while ignoring Congress and BJP.
