CHANDIGARH: The electricity committee of the Chandigarh municipal corporation, on Thursday, approved a more than Rs 70 lakh project to install lights in various parts of the city, particularly in gardens. This was the first meeting of the MC electricity committee called in the last four months. Besides allotting money to install lights, the civic body authority unanimously decided that the electricity wing would be equipped with four boom ladders and four trucks for pruning of trees around streetlights.
AAP protests Kejriwal's arrest
Chandigarh: The local wing of the Chandigarh unit of Aam Aadmi Party, on Thursday, held a symbolic protest in the Sector 17, Plaza against the arrest of AAP national convener, Arvind Kejriwal. They slammed the events which occurred in New Delhi on Wednesday, including the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal, use of force and misuse of Section 144 to detain and harass AAP leaders and volunteers, including Yogendra Yadav and Manish Sisodia. Thereafter the group walked to the DC office and was stopped at the overbridge. Later, a 10 members' delegation went to submit the memorandum to the DC, Chandigarh.
